Day 4 - When it's cold.

Because summer is one wheekend in July for the North of England, it's very important that Toffee is nice and warm! Now it's getting to winter for almost everyone, it's important that you keep your guineas warm too...
Here are a few tips of how you can do this.

1) This is my most used one. I'm not even sure if it works, but she seems to be perfectly nice and cosy. Like part of covering her over when there are fireworks (find out more here), I just use a blanket to cover over the top of her cage.
Just make sure there's enough space in the bars for them to breathe!
The blanket I use is just a nice little pet blanket with paw prints on it and you can actually buy them most places for no more than about £4, or you could just use a normal blanket!

2) Most fleece things are nice to use to keep guinea pigs warm so you could use a little bed or something that you can also buy in quite a lot of places! Most will also be no more than £8 too. If you're going to buy one of these, try not to leave it in the cage all of the time, and do pop it in the wash every so often. :)

3) And finally, you could also use a heat pad for guinea pigs. I've never used one but I suppose that they are like those hand warmers for humans that go in the microwave - but make sure that you read the label on them before you use them! They are, however, quite expensive and can get up to about £20 each!

Thanks for reading and Happy Piggymas!
