Day 2 - Bell Ball

Who doesn't love the sound of bells at Christmas? Toffee has had her same purple and yellow bell ball for ages and we have never had to replace it because doesn't chew it, she just plays football with it. Let me just give you a word of warning though - if you do decide to buy your guinea(s) a ball then you will never get used to the sound of bells at 3am.

Unfortunately, because of the amount of times that Toffee has played with it, the ball has broken a few times but it's mainly when I've dropped it when taking it to her outside run in Summer so it is really good quality for the money.

If your bell ball does break then it is safe to just heat up the rim of the plastic a little then stick the two halves back together, when doing this you need to make sure of three things though:

  1. If you are quite young then get an adult to do it. My dad fixes Toffee's bell ball every time it breaks.
  2. Heat one half and put the bell in the other half to make sure it is put back in. Toffee would never forgive me if I forgot the bell part of her bell ball.
  3. Make sure the plastic has fully set again and that it has cooled before you give it back to your piggies.

I daren't replace Toffee's ball because she's got really attached to it and she doesn't chew it at all, but if it does start to get really chewed then I would recommend replacing it!
Toffee when she was a little piggy in the garden.

The one I found is on Pets At Home and is actually a cat toy but it will be perfectly fine for guinea pigs. If you would like to go more down the natural root (excuse the pun) then I also found this really cool wooden one on Amazon. If that breaks though, please just buy a new one because you cannot melt wood back together!

Thanks for reading and Happy Piggymas!
